Wrapping up the 2025 Leadership Retreat

October 22, 2025

Dear Sangha,

About twenty of us gathered October 17 at SCOL for KCC’s annual leadership retreat. We focused on our ongoing effort to implement the goals in the KCC Strategic Plan 2024-2029 that was adopted with extensive community input. It was a full and inspiring weekend! KCC’s Service Group Leads, staff, board members, and other dedicated sangha members came together for meals, meditation practice, nature walks, song—and to reflect on what we love about KCC, where we hope to go in the future, and what steps we can take in 2026 to help us get there.

Here are the primary goals we plan to prioritize in 2026:

  • Improve communications and connection. We will form a communications team to help increase KCC’s visibility through things like short videos, website updates, and a more active social media presence.
  • Grow our curriculum. We want to keep refining the path and resources that KCC offers to support practitioners at every stage.
  • Celebrate KCC’s 50th anniversary! A committee is taking shape to plan joyful community events and help our staff finalize the timeline for all 2026 celebrations.
  • Kick off a 50th anniversary fundraising campaign. We’ll be looking for a new Development Coordinator and creating a development support team.

We identified few additional areas where we’d like to find more support:

  • Children’s Program. We’d love to find more teachers so we can offer the program every week.
  • Inclusivity training. We want to identify opportunities for staff, lead volunteers, and the wider community to learn and grow together.
  • Compassionate communication. We want to identify ways to help our community speak and listen to each other with care.
  • SCOL use and support. We’d like to welcome two more outside groups to use SCOL in 2026 and support our staff.

It was a weekend full of inspiration, connection, and shared vision. If anyone is interested in volunteering to support KCC please contact Sally Mead at .

Thanks to everyone for being part of this community and for all the ways you help KCC flourish!
