Kagyu Changchub Chuling’s (KCC) regular meditations are open to all members of the public, and in most cases, the teacher will offer basic instructions before meditation. Visiting any of the practices or special events at KCC is a great way to get a sense of our community, approach, and teaching methods. We especially recommend attending our AM or PM Shamatha Meditation on Sundays for those new to the practice.
If you’d like to get a fuller picture of our center and the types of meditation we offer, we hold a Newcomer’s Session every second Sunday of the month, from 11:15 am – 12:30 pm. All are invited to attend, and no registration is necessary. If you would like to attend online, a button with the Zoom link will appear on the calendar event page 15 minutes before the session begins.
Many of our other regular meditation sessions and study groups are currently on Zoom only. Please visit our calendar and click on any of the events mentioned above, or any that catch your eye, to learn more about our offerings.
Throughout the year, KCC offers numerous meditation retreats, ranging in length from a weekend to a week, and sometimes longer. Many of these are hosted at our retreat land, SCOL, and can alternately be attended over Zoom.
For those new to retreat, we recommend our periodic Essence of Meditation: Letting Go Into Being retreat, a three-day residential at SCOL. For information on upcoming retreats, click here.
KCC has a group of dedicated practitioners who serve as mentors and dharma friends for anyone seeking support. They’re here to answer questions, offer companionship on the path, and help newcomers find their place in the community.
Mentors offer peer-level support grounded in their ongoing involvement at KCC. They draw on their experience as practitioners, volunteers, Board members, staff, and in some cases, teachers, to help orient people. This is an evolving, rotating group, and we expect it to grow over time as more community members step into this role.
During Sunday events, you can identify Mentors by their stickers. Please feel welcome to approach them, they’re always glad to connect. You can also email us at if you have any questions.
For spiritual support, dharma guidance, or checking in about your practice, our Resident Lama, Eric Triebelhorn, or Lama Kathleen Benz, are the appropriate people to reach out to. They hold the formal responsibility for transmitting the teachings, offering practice direction, and supporting students in their meditation path.
You can book a one-on-one dharma meeting with either Lama Eric or Lama Kathleen here.
