Volunteer Gratitude
We are delighted to honor the work of dedicated KCC volunteer, Don Cushing. Don’s behind-the-scenes AV work is vital to fulfilling KCC’s mission of making the Dharma accessible to all. He is an integral part of a strong team of Zoom streamers and AV facilitators.
Don brings both experience and aptitude to guiding the AV elements of KCC’s offerings. His determination and dedication are evident in his efforts to improve AV processes. For example, Don has developed clear and understandable documents outlining the process of AV room Zoom streaming. He has also created a guide and checklist with step-by-step instructions for AV volunteers. While this work requires a certain level of technological aptitude, Don’s guidance provides new streamers with the tools they need to succeed, reducing their stress in running the program. The main document is iterative, allowing Don and the AV team to make continuous improvements.
Despite the best preparations, unexpected issues can arise. To address this, Don has compiled an Issues & Solutions tracker for the AV team, serving as a troubleshooting guide. This living document can be updated as new challenges emerge. Don’s ability to troubleshoot in real-time ensures that glitches are quickly resolved.
In addition to his AV work, Don excels at orienting new AV volunteers. As a patient and supportive trainer, he is a valued member of the team.
Beyond his AV contributions, Don also works in KCC’s garden, where he has designed and implemented a water irrigation system for the plants. He is often seen rolling up his sleeves to move plants and bushes and perform other heavy lifting tasks in the garden.
Don tackles every project with equilibrium and precision. Thank you, Don, for sharing your talent and dedication in the service of KCC.
