Retreat Reflections: Teri Rowe on her first retreat at SCOL
Sangha Member Teri Rowe recently participated in the June personal practice at SCOL. She offers some reflections here:
“This is the last night of my week-long personal practice retreat. There are four of us remaining. It’s been a wonderful time.
This was my first time at SCOL and my first Buddhist retreat. I’m so happy I decided to come. Back home I was in a rut – staying busy to keep from feeling. Here I’ve read most of Pema Chodron’s book “Start Where You Are”. Often I’ll be struggling with something and find a way to work with it in her writing. Meditating and yoga have helped me stay in my body instead of turning to the endless distractions at home. I’m leaving here tomorrow with a lot more courage, optimism and motivation.”
