Conflict Resolution and KCC’s Harmony Council

October 5, 2026

Even in a sangha setting where people are trying to live in harmony, conflicts arise and beg to be addressed. In a Buddhist context, the goals of conflict resolution are to deepen insight and compassion and to restore the harmony of the sangha, placing focus on the present and the future rather than the past. The focus is on using the experience of conflict to learn about oneself and others, and to develop more skillful responses.

When sangha members at KCC begin to perceive conflict, they are asked to draw on their highest skills of deep listening, mindfulness and loving kindness to attempt to clear the situation themselves. KCC has outlined conflict resolution procedures to help people work towards resolution.  If – for whatever reason – conflict still cannot be resolved, KCC’s Harmony Council members can help facilitate resolution.

KCC’s Harmony Council members are available as a resource to help as needed in any stage of the process.  Any member of the HC may be contacted for assistance.
