We met every goal! Entering the final week of the Sustaining Supporter Drive

Supporting Our Shared Sources of Support

Craig B started coming to KCC in 2022.  You’ll spot him as a regular attendee on Sundays and he volunteers in a variety of roles around the center as well.

I support KCC because it supports me in so many ways. I want to continue having that support for myself and others for many years to come.

Week 5 pushed KCC’s Sustaining Supporter campaign over the top: we met every goal!

On Sundays, Lama Eric and our meditation leaders often welcome newcomers by acknowledging that it takes a little — or a lot — of courage to enter a new space. In that same spirit, a heartfelt thank you to the 17 people who made a new financial commitment to KCC. On behalf of the Staff, Board of Directors, and longtime supporters, it is heartwarming to know you’ve chosen to support the Dharma and KCC’s mission. The KCC sangha continues to demonstrate a deep commitment to keeping the Dharma accessible to all.

The final week of the Sustaining Supporter campaign isn’t about closing a gap.

If KCC has supported your practice this year, consider making a sustaining commitment before the campaign closes. Your generosity is the reason newcomers can walk through our doors with courage and find the Dharma waiting, and it’s what allows longtime sangha members to keep returning, year after year. Make your gift before the campaign ends on Friday August 28th.

Financial Assistance in Action

Many sangha members also contribute to the Financial Assistance fund, which allows people to attend SCOL retreats at a reduced cost. So far in 2026, $8,906 has been disbursed from the fund. For the upcoming Mahamudra Seminar in September 2026 at SCOL, 4 of the 13 registered attendees will receive financial assistance to attend.

In addition, KCC always offers tiered pricing for Dharma teachings offered in Portland. 25–30% of registered attendees use the reduced-cost tier. KCC’s primary goal is to have a full meditation hall at a KCC and every retreat cabin filled at SCOL. Sangha support makes that possible.

KCC is committed to freely offering the Dharma to all.

To make this possible, we practice a model of mutual support: we invite those with greater financial capacity to give a higher percentage of their income, balancing the contributions of those who can give less.

Here are a few examples of how you might structure your pledge:

Sustaining support is tax deductible as KCC is a U.S. tax-exempt 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. If you would like to customize your giving plan, or have questions about donating, please contact Cynthia at .

As we celebrate KCC’s 50th anniversary, we honor the generosity of those who sustained this center before us. KCC’s Benevolence Fund: Interconnected Care

Generosity flows in many directions. If offering financial support is not possible for you in your current season of life, please remember that KCC is also here to support you.

You can request basic life support through a one-time grant from KCC’s Benevolence Fund. Our Sangha contributes to this fund because we know that we are all interconnected and are unaffected when a member of our community is struggling. To learn more, contact .

For non-financial assistance, such as help with meals and rides to and from medical appointments, please contact KCC’s Needs & Care Group.
