No Better Use of my Free Time
There are many ways to support KCC. During this campaign, KCC community members will share a facet of their Dharma experience that inspires them to support KCC with a recurring financial contribution.
This week, John R, KCC Board Co-President and AV Team Member, shares how quickly KCC and the Dharma impacted him:
When I came to KCC in 2010, life seemed to be going well enough. I was a privileged (if neurotic) white professional guy with a vague interest in meditation and a seven-year old son. I heard that KCC had a Children’s Program during weekly morning sits, so the family stumbled in one Sunday morning. Next thing I knew, I was at a weekend tonglen retreat where Lama Michael convinced me that there was no better use of my free time than to explore the nature of mind and cultivate compassion through Dharma practice.
Now, fifteen years later, I cannot express enough gratitude for the three jewels that KCC has given me — the teachings, the community, and the consistent support for daily practice and deeper retreats. We even did a pilgrimage in India to experience sacred Buddhist sites with Lama Eric. We are so fortunate to have these opportunities, and I aspire that they continue to be available to anybody inspired by this path.

John R wins a prize at Buddhist Bingo in 2022.
Sustaining Supporter Campaign Update
We have reached $6023 in additional annual giving after 3 weeks of this campaign. This amount will be doubled thanks to the matching challenge that has been offered by a generous Sangha member!
To be clear, this $10,000 matching challenge is a TRUE MATCH.
KCC will receive matching funds only for the increased recurring giving that comes from the community during this Sustaining Supporter Campaign.
We’ve got 4 weeks to attain the full match!
We are grateful for the commitment you’ve made to the Dharma and KCC.
KCC is committed to freely offering the Dharma to all.
To do so, we invite those with greater financial capacity to give a higher percentage of their income to balance the giving of others who can give less. For consideration:
If your income is $100K per year:
-
- a pledge of 5% of your income would be $416/mo.
- a pledge of 3% of your income would be $250/mo.
If your income is $75K per year,
-
- a pledge of 2% of your income would be $125/mo.
If your income is $30K per year,
-
- a pledge of 1% of your income would be $25/mo.

Dharma of Dollars: Financial Aid for SCOL Retreats
The transformative teachings, practices, and connections fostered at KCC are only possible with community support. At KCC, we are deeply grateful for our robust community of sustaining supporters and we strive to be good stewards of the resources entrusted to us.
Did you know that financial assistance is available for SCOL Retreats?
Up to 50% of the SCOL retreat costs (staying in a double cabin) is available. Special circumstances are considered if assistance over 50% is needed.
Currently, the Financial Assistance fund is quite healthy. If Financial Assistance would make it easier for you to attend an SCOL retreat, please reach out. The dharma is for all of us!
Where does the SCOL financial assistance money come from?
Contributions are typically made to KCC’s financial assistance fund when someone registers for a retreat. These contributions are accounted for separately and not combined with money for KCC’s general operating expenses. Thank you to financial aid contributors who have made it easier for others to deepen their practice and connection to the Dharma.
