Poetry Play Writing Weekend Reflection
In my daily life, I often look out to see what is going on as part of my protection and survival technique, but not that often do I look in unless I do it very consciously. Writing poems gave me a great opportunity to gently look inside of my heart and touch my subtle feelings, memories, colors and scent and vivid images associated with those memories, which are kept somewhere in my drawers carelessly. How could I know that some words, phrases, or objects would actually evoke my (not so obvious or almost forgotten) emotions as I began to write. The writing prompts invited me to keenly probe my inner senses! Wow!
I felt that expressing something in the form of a poem was so gentle, lightweight, free flowing even for difficult subjects, and I see this is a little bit similar to meditation. Something appears in my mind, and I put it down on paper, move on, then another thing appears, then put it down and move on again and again and again… One flow of feeling/thought to another flow of like the river which is the mind. To my surprise, I really enjoyed this process in that special guided environment!
It was such a joyous weekend we spent with each other by writing poems and expressing our inner beauty and preciousness.
I am so grateful to Debra, Kate and all sweet sangha sisters!
