Opportunities for good surround us…
And bodhisattvas among us lead the way. Carolyn Nowosielski volunteers with Bienestar, a non-profit organization based in Washington County. As Carolyn says, “they provide really nice housing and other services to our immigrant and immigrant farming population.” Now we have the chance to provide food for those who have planted, weeded, and picked vegetables and fruits for us to enjoy.
This community is scared; concerned about their safety, their ability to remain freely with their children rather than placed in an immigration prison. They are staying home, working less, and shopping infrequently. Carolyn has started bringing non-perishables to them on a regular basis, and would like to offer the KCC sangha a chance to participate in bringing nourishment and a sense of not-being-forgotten to this group of 2,700 people, half of whom are children.
