From Lama Eric
Greetings KCC Community!
The Four Thoughts that Turn the Mind to Dharma are critical contemplations to ensure that our motivation to practice remains vital and pure. The four are precious human existence, death and impermanence, karma, and the faults of samsara.
Listening to teachings and working these over as individuals and as a group is a powerful means to further integrate these critical truths into our being. On Sunday, October 6th, we began with some teaching and reflection on precious human birth. On Sunday, October 13th, David Thornburgh shared further on this topic, and then sangha members, who have been contemplating this over the past week, shared their experiences with each other.
The Sundays of October 20th and 27th will be devoted to death and impermanence. On November 3rd and 10th we’ll cover karmic cause and effect. And we will explore the faults of samsara on November 17th and 24th.
Please consider joining us for practice and discussions over the next two months. You can join any regularly scheduled meditation from the KCC Calendar—the Zoom link appears 15 minutes before each session. Some resources to read more about these from classical and contemporary sources are below. Each of the books is worth having for those who wish to delve deeper into these critical concepts.
Wishing good practice to everyone!
