IN PERSON & ZOOM – Shamatha Meditation – AM
January 28, 9:00 am - 11:00 am
Teacher: Lama Eric Triebelhorn & Tim Campbell
The heating system is currently inoperable at the Portland Center, and we are heating the building with space heaters. Please dress warmly — we expect the meditation hall to be around 60 degrees this weekend.
Come join us to celebrate Gwen on their last day as Portland Center Operations Manager as they embark on their career as a Music Therapist! We will share some words in the later part of the discussion period, and then gather in the community room for cake and conversation.
To join via Zoom: A Zoom button will appear below 15 minutes prior to each session (i.e., Sunday at 8:45am). Please refresh your window if it is not appearing.
The foundation of Buddhist meditation is Shamatha, a meditation that develops stable attention which serves as the essential underpinning of all other meditation practices.
At the beginning of each session, brief instruction to the practice of Shamatha will be given. After a one-hour session and a 10-minute break, there will be a teaching or question-and-answer period with participants.
9:00am – 10:00am — Shamatha meditation, with brief instruction
10:15am – 11:00am — Teachings and/or question and answer session
