Sunday, June 23, Lama Sonam from Eugene will lead a special Sunday morning practice and discussion at the Portland Center in person and on Zoom. The topic of this special practice session is A Fresh Look at Lojong, the Heart of the Mahayana. This session will go from 9:00am to 11:30am.

The Lojong, or mind training teachings of Tibetan Buddhism are renowned for their clear, direct ability to offer immediate benefit to the everyday life of the practitioner. It has been said that the mind training teachings are a complete path to enlightenment. The lojong path is founded on deep loving kindness and compassion combined with genuine courage.

Lama Sonam and his wife Lama Yang Chen did the three-year retreat with Lama Michael in Marcola, Oregon, and have been close dharma friends of KCC for many decades. They are key supporters of Lama Tsang Tsing and the KDC dharma center in Eugene.

9:00am – 10:00am — Shamatha meditation, with brief instruction
10:15am – 11:00am — Teachings and/or question and answer session

At 11:00am Sally Mead will lead us in a celebration of Lama Michael Conklin’s 80th birthday (June 22).
