Cultivating Compassion and Revealing Wisdom – a 10-day SCOL retreat (and on Zoom)

April 20, 2023 - April 30, 2023

Teacher: Lama Eric Triebelhorn and Lama Sonam Dargye

Registration for in-person attendance has closed. You may still register via Zoom using the button below.

It is taught that the essence of an awakened being’s mind is wisdom, compassion, and skillful ability. No matter how distant those qualities may seem from us now, the essence of our minds–the rootless root of our being–is those very qualities. Perhaps not surprisingly, to gradually usher wisdom and compassion to the fore of our experience, we engage in meditations on wisdom and compassion.

There are many systems of practice to approach the nature of our being. In the sutra tradition, we have the special instructions of shamatha, vipashyana, and mahamudra, as well as the teachings on bodhichitta so skillfully presented in the Mind Training tradition. In association with the latter, we will approach the contemplations on the four immeasurable and the practice of taking and sending (tonglen) from a variety of perspectives.

And within the tantra tradition, the practice of Chenrezi utilizes the special means of the vajrayana to get in touch with our innate wisdom and compassion using imagination, mantra, and feeling into that awakened presence.

We are delighted to announce that Lama Sonam Dargye will again join us and co-facilitate the retreat with Lama Eric. Consider joining us on our spacious 240 acres of retreat land (or via the sphere of Zoom), for a spacious exploration of these rich techniques to more intimately connect with the essence of our innermost being.

There are no prerequisites to attend, but you must be able to participate in the entirety of the retreat.
