*Last Class* Essence of Buddhism Study Group (Zoom only)
August 22, 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
Teacher: Lama Eric Triebelhorn
From Lama Eric:
“We’ll meet August 22nd at 7:00pm to conclude the study group. For that class, we’ll review Chapter 17—Mahamudra Meditation: Allowing the Mind to Rest in Its Natural State. We’ll discuss the initial content about shamatha and vipashyana. We’ll do some guided meditation on the practices of stillness, movement, and awareness (ne gyu rik sum, in the text), and cover the Four Yogas of Mahamudra. Regarding the Four Yogas, I’ll send out some additional reading materials about those prior to the class.”
A link to ZOOM will appear on this page 15-minutes prior to the start time. If the button is not appearing, first try refreshing your webpage. If it is still not appearing, please email zoom@kcc.org for assistance.
Every Second and Fourth Thursday of the month, Lama Eric Triebelhorn leads a study group on The Essence of Buddhism by Traleg Kyabgon. This book discusses many of the foundational aspects of Buddhism, written by a deeply trained Tibetan teacher who spent many years teaching in the West. The study group includes brief presentations of the material, small group conversations, and sharing in the larger group. This group began in August 2023; participants can join at anytime. Please email us if you have questions about joining.
Copies of the book are available for purchase in the KCC bookstore. You can read the first chapter here.
Recordings of each session are available under the Recent Practices & Video Archives page. Scroll down to the third line to find the Essence of Buddhism Study Group.
To facilitate the sharing of resources and updates for each session, we have created a Google email group similar to our Sangha email group. If you are participating in this Essence of Buddhism study group, please email us to be added to this email group and receive regular correspondence from Lama Eric with resources and contemplations.
