From Niguma to Kalu Rinpoche

March 27, 2021, 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Teacher: Lama Sarah Harding

Four Saturdays:

March 6 – Making Sense of Tibet’s Dharma Deluge
March 13 – Shangpa and Kagyu Dharmas—Parallel Developments
March 20 – Where Were the Women?
March 27 – Bringing in Niguma’s Aspiration (Do Buddhists even pray?)

KCC is honored and delighted to welcome Sarah Harding into our virtual space for a series of classes on the Shangpa Kagyu lineage. Sarah will draw from her extensive research and writings on Niguma—an awakened wisdom dakini and one of the principal inspirations for the Shangpa Kagyu—and speak from her experience of being an early disciple of and translator for Kyabje Kalu Rinpoche who was the head of the Shangpa Kagyu lineage for most of the 20th century.

Having met Kalu Rinpoche in the early 1970s, Sarah learned Tibetan, was part of Kalu Rinpoche’s first Shangpa Kagyu three-year retreat in France, and later served on the faculty of Naropa University where she taught for 25 years. She is currently translating the Shangpa Kagyu corpus from Jamgon Kongtrul Lodrö Thaye’s Treasury of Precious Instructions. Part practitioner and part scholar, Sarah brings any material she presents to life with her erudite, engaging, and entertaining style. These talks are sure to be a treat!

Optional reading material:

Niguma, Lady of Illusion by Sarah Harding
