Enthronement of Kyabje Bokar Rinpoche in India
November 22
We are happy to share the wonderful news that the formal enthronement for Kyabje Bokar Rinpoche will be held this November 22nd at Bokar Monastery in India. This date is also the 22nd day of the 9th lunar month which marks one of four principal days special to the life of Buddha Shakyamuni—Buddha’s Descent from the God Realm. It is said that the Buddha traveled to and spent three months in the deva realm giving teachings to his mother who was born there, having died shortly after his birth. This day marks his return from there.
The enthronement itself will be on November 22nd, and there will be a few days of celebration and ceremony beforehand. Anyone is welcome to attend, and as the schedule becomes more clear, we will send updates. In addition, KCC is considering using the opportunity to schedule a pilgrimage through parts of India and/or Nepal adjacent to this event. If you are interested in know more about a potential pilgrimage, please contact Vicki Blair.
