We all experience grief, anger, confusion and suffering being alive in our world. Rosemarie Sweet and Carolyn Peck offer this workshop based on the work of Joanna Macy, Buddhist scholar and activist. Known as The Work That Reconnects, this process allows us to create a trusted group structure within which to better know our own fear, grief, anger and sorrow. Listening fully, all who have gathered can connect with each other in a deeply respectful way, and sense the acceptance, compassion, and connection that comes alongside the experiences.
This workshop will be centered around a ritual called a Truth Mandala. Participants sit in a tight circle, making a containment vessel. The circle has four quadrants. Each quadrant has a symbolic object signifying the feelings we feel: fear, sorrow, anger and deprivation or need. As Joanna Macy says, “You may wonder where hope is. The very ground of this mandala is hope. If we didn’t have hope, we wouldn’t be here.” In this sacred space, each of us will have the opportunity to share our feelings for the world we move in and know and be truly heard.
Rosemarie has trained in and presented The Work That Reconnects in many settings. She is always inspired and energized in sharing this work with others, often feeling hopeful and restored by it. Carolyn participated in a Zoom presentation of the Truth Mandala that helped her realize that love was underneath her vast unworkable fear. We both hope this offering will be of benefit to our sangha.
Please join us in this day of heartfelt sharing and celebration of our connection to all beings. Due to the intimate nature of this event, participation will be in-person only and not available via Zoom.
