Dear Sangha,
KCC is seeking a dedicated and organized individual to join our team as an Assistant to the Managing Director. This is a wonderful opportunity to contribute to the activities of both our Portland center and rural retreat center (SCOL).

Position Overview: This part-time role offers flexible hours, with an expected commitment of approximately 15-20 hours per week. While there is flexibility, it is preferred that most of the hours be worked Monday through Thursday, between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM. A blend of telework and in-person hours is ideal for this role. This position offers per $20 hour.

The primary focus of the role is to provide support to the Managing Director, in areas of communication, website management, event planning, and event logistics.

Key Responsibilities:

Communication Management:

  • Update and edit KCC’s weekly newsletter via MailChimp, ensuring all content from staff and volunteers is accurate and engaging. Proofread and edit content before distribution.
  • Regularly update KCC’s website with fresh content provided by staff and volunteers. This includes resizing images and proofreading written material before posting.
  • Update the weekly Canva slideshow, incorporating information from staff and volunteers, ensuring it’s ready for sharing by Sunday.
  • Assist in communicating event updates, schedule changes, and other critical information via email and the website.
  • Review incoming emails and direct them to the appropriate KCC staff member or volunteer. Handle basic inquiries by responding directly.

Event Management:

  • Support event logistics by ensuring staffing, volunteer needs, and other requirements are met for regular KCC practices and special events.
  • Assist in setting up retreat registration forms, confirmation emails, and pre-retreat communications using the Retreat Guru platform.
  • Provide Zoom meeting support by scheduling meetings and confirming that Zoom hosting duties are filled for staff and volunteers.
  • Help maintain an organized and up-to-date KCC planning calendar, ensuring it aligns with the website calendar.

Ideal Candidate: We are looking for someone who is:

  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with a keen eye for proofreading and ensuring consistency in dates, times, and content.
  • Proficient with or eager to learn online platforms such as Zoom, MailChimp, Canva, WordPress, and Retreat Guru.
  • A strong communicator, both in writing and verbally.
  • Able to work independently and effectively manage multiple tasks.
  • Passionate about the Dharma and dedicated to supporting the KCC community.
