Brief instruction to the practice is provided before every session. Lama Eric Triebelhorn provides detailed instructions about the practice of Shamatha on alternating first Sundays from 9:00am to 12:30 including a question and answer session. These Half-Day Sits happen in odd-numbered months: January, March, May, July, September, and November.

The three Vajrayana practices most utilized at KCC are these: Vajrasattva, Chenrezi (Avalokiteshvara), and Green Tara. Often when speaking in Tibetan, the word for empowerment is modified with ‘ripening’. That is to say, just receiving an empowerment can create some spiritual momentum in our lives and practice.
