SUMMARY:Community Yin Yoga
DESCRIPTION:Yin Yoga is a slow\, meditative style of yoga that invites stillness and deep release. Rather than flowing quickly from one pose to the next\, Yin encourages you to linger—holding postures for three to seven minutes at a time. This gentle yet profound approach allows the stretch to reach beyond the muscles\, into the body’s deeper connective tissues such as fascia\, joints\, and ligaments. \nUsing supportive props like bolsters\, blankets\, and blocks\, the body is encouraged to fully relax and let go. As tension melts away\, Yin Yoga cultivates greater flexibility\, mobility\, and inner spaciousness. Beyond the physical practice\, Yin invites mindfulness and quiet introspection. It slows the nervous system\, reduces stress\, and nurtures a sense of acceptance and presence—balancing the active\, fiery energies of daily life with calm\, restorative stillness. \nThese sessions are as much about inner reflection as they are about collective harmony\, a space where everyone is welcome to soften and simply be. \nParticipants must be eighteen years of age or older and will be required to sign a waiver before attending. The waiver can be printed out and filled out before arriving\, or we will have some on location. Please bring your own mat\, props\, and personal items. We recommend bringing a water bottle with a secure lid and a towel. This class is offered at no cost; donations are appreciated. \nFacilitated by Darin Milligan\nDarin is an avid rock climber\, boulderer\, mountain biker\, surfer and snowboarder who found stillness in the Yin Yoga practice as a counter balance to all of the Yang activities in his life. He has been practicing Yin for 17 years and teaching for several years. He is a certified Yin Yoga instructor through Yin Yoga Space Studio in Portland\, OR\, and a regularly attending member of the KCC Sangha.\n\nVIEW EVENT DETAILS: https://kcc.org/event/community-yin-yoga/2026-10-25/

SUMMARY:Dharma Book Club: Everyday Consciousness
DESCRIPTION:Oct. 7th – Nov. 18th\, In-Person Only at KCC\nWednesdays\, 5:00 – 6:30 PM\n(brown bag your dinner and stay for Chenrezig!) \nEveryday Consciousness and Primordial Awareness\nBy Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoche \nFrom Shambhala Publications:\nThis introduction to Buddhist psychology supplies essential instructions for successful meditation practice. Rinpoche presents meditation practices that can powerfully influence and ultimately transform the mind into the purified mind of a Buddha. He clearly describes how consciousnesses operate in everyday perception and how at the time of Buddhahood\, these same consciousnesses express the five primordial wisdoms of the five Buddha families. \nGuidelines to be established at the first meeting. \nInstigators: Cynthia Irvine and Craig Hill. Please note that this is a peer-led book club and discussion circle\, not a formal training or class. \nNote: This book explains the components of the mind and the wisdom energies that can be uncovered through practice. Anybody is welcome\, but some people might prefer a less-cognitive approach to practice. \nPlease email cynthia@kcc.org to RSVP\, or let Cynthia or Craig know in person if you are interested in attending.\n\nVIEW EVENT DETAILS: https://kcc.org/event/dharma-book-club-everyday-consciousness/2026-10-28/

SUMMARY:Children's Program
DESCRIPTION:The Children’s Program will be held from 9am – 10am this week to practice the Karmaoki Song. Karmaoki starts at 10am so Laurie Simpson will be with the kids\, or they can be with their parents throughout the event. \nThe KCC Children’s Program is an opportunity to introduce children to Buddhist values within a supportive\, sincere dharma community using simple dharma activities\, storytelling\, open discussion\, songs\, art projects and activities\, including play\, to promote kindness and compassion. Our goal is to provide a fun\, meaningful experience for all. \nSunday Morning Children’s Program \nOn the second and fourth Sundays of each month\, from 9:00 to 11:00 am\, we offer the Sunday Morning Children’s Program. This program normally starts in September and runs through the second Sunday in June. In July and August we meet once a month on the fourth Sunday. We require that at least one parent or guardian be present at KCC when their child attends. \nThe age range we currently serve is 6 to 12; however\, we do allow slightly younger and older children on a case by case basis as appropriate. Please feel free to discuss this with the program coordinator\, Laurie Simpson\, if needed. Email contact here. \nWhile there is no fee for the program\, dana (offerings) are accepted and go towards helping us continue providing programs such as these. In order to support the program on Sundays we ask that parents agree to be available to assist the teacher if needed – this is a shared role and can be filled by parents or other adults who wish to participate in this way. During the regular school year please note that we request you consider committing to bringing your child both Sundays each month throughout this time frame\, but this is not required. \nAlso please be aware that\, to attend this program\, your child needs to be able to manage their speech and physical activity cooperatively in a small group to help maintain a peaceful children’s sangha. If this is a concern we ask that you attend with your child until they are comfortable with the group. Ultimately we want to be as inclusive as possible\, but must also work to create a safe and welcoming environment for all attending.\n\nVIEW EVENT DETAILS: https://kcc.org/event/childrens-program-7/

SUMMARY:Karmaoke: The Return!
DESCRIPTION:On November 1st\, the veil thins… and the Dharma sings! \nKarmaoke this year will also be streamed over Zoom for those not able to make it in person. However\, reader beware… If you wish to lead a song you must show up in the flesh. \nJoin us for a Halloween‑themed fall FUNdraiser full of song\, silliness\, and Dharma delight. After a short Sunday Morning Shamatha\, we’ll take a quick break and then dive straight into community karaoke\, followed by a seasonal potluck to keep the party going. \nLead a tune solo\, gather a few KCC friends to sing with you\, or invite the whole community to join in. If you’ve got a song\, we want to hear it. Everyone is invited to suggest songs they love that have inherent Dharma content (repeats from previous years are welcome!) Song submissions can be sent directly to Jennifer by email at jennifer@kcc.org through October 16th and the Karmaoke Team will put together a final list. \nIn the spirit of the season\, costumes are encouraged!  \nWalking through the neighborhood\, we’re surrounded by the season’s bright abundance: piles of orange pumpkins\, multicolored mums\, apples\, plums\, and figs. It’s a reminder of harvest time and the playful tradition of donning colorful costumes. Our Buddhist tradition offers so many characters to draw from: ghosts\, demons\, goddesses\, yogis… or simply follow whatever calls to your imagination. What will your Karmaoke costume be? \nKeep an eye out over the coming weeks for updates as we bring back old favorites\, or debut a new Dharma‑themed masterpiece. \nClick here for last years playlist. Save the date. We hope to see you there!\n\nVIEW EVENT DETAILS: https://kcc.org/event/karmaoke-the-return/

He is a certified Yin Yoga instructor through Yin Yoga Space Studio in Portland\, OR\, and a regularly attending member of the KCC Sangha.\n\nVIEW EVENT DETAILS: https://kcc.org/event/community-yin-yoga/2026-11-01/

\nPlease email cynthia@kcc.org to RSVP\, or let Cynthia or Craig know in person if you are interested in attending.\n\nVIEW EVENT DETAILS: https://kcc.org/event/dharma-book-club-everyday-consciousness/2026-11-04/
