SUMMARY:Death and Dying Study Group
DESCRIPTION:The Death and Dying Study Group chooses material to work with before gathering to discuss. On 1st Tuesdays we continue working through a book. On 3rd Tuesdays our focus is on films\, articles and poems available online or are easily sent out to the study group as a PDF. We have a common interest to learn more about death and dying by reading or viewing\, discussing\, and hearing each other. \n1st and 3rd Tuesdays of the month – 1:30pm to 2:30pm — on Zoom only.  \nParticipation in the study group is open to all\, but the Zoom meetings are done by password-protected invitation email. Anyone who is interested should contact Catherine Harris at catahar@peak.org or Jan Glenn at janbglenn@yahoo.com. \nFor our web archive of items of interest — for example\, Lama Eric’s booklet for July 2020 class ’Skillfully Traversing the Bardos’\, calligraphy by Jan Glenn\, list of books\, compilations of poems\, jokes and cartoons\, as well as our meeting structure and links to legal documents — click HERE.\n\nVIEW EVENT DETAILS: https://kcc.org/event/death-and-dying-study-group-2-2-2-2/2026-08-04/

SUMMARY:Children's Program
DESCRIPTION:Please note: The schedule for the Children’s Program has been adjusted through September. Please check the KCC calendar for upcoming dates. \nThe KCC Children’s Program is an opportunity to introduce children to Buddhist values within a supportive\, sincere dharma community using simple dharma activities\, storytelling\, open discussion\, songs\, art projects and activities\, including play\, to promote kindness and compassion. Our goal is to provide a fun\, meaningful experience for all. \nSunday Morning Children’s Program \nOn the second and fourth Sundays of each month\, from 9:00 to 11:00 am\, we offer the Sunday Morning Children’s Program. This program normally starts in September and runs through the second Sunday in June. In July and August we meet once a month on the fourth Sunday. We require that at least one parent or guardian be present at KCC when their child attends. \nThe age range we currently serve is 6 to 12; however\, we do allow slightly younger and older children on a case by case basis as appropriate. Please feel free to discuss this with the program coordinator\, Laurie Simpson\, if needed. Email contact here. \nWhile there is no fee for the program\, dana (offerings) are accepted and go towards helping us continue providing programs such as these. In order to support the program on Sundays we ask that parents agree to be available to assist the teacher if needed – this is a shared role and can be filled by parents or other adults who wish to participate in this way. During the regular school year please note that we request you consider committing to bringing your child both Sundays each month throughout this time frame\, but this is not required. \nAlso please be aware that\, to attend this program\, your child needs to be able to manage their speech and physical activity cooperatively in a small group to help maintain a peaceful children’s sangha. If this is a concern we ask that you attend with your child until they are comfortable with the group. Ultimately we want to be as inclusive as possible\, but must also work to create a safe and welcoming environment for all attending.\n\nVIEW EVENT DETAILS: https://kcc.org/event/childrens-program-11-3/2026-08-23/

Ultimately we want to be as inclusive as possible\, but must also work to create a safe and welcoming environment for all attending.\n\nVIEW EVENT DETAILS: https://kcc.org/event/childrens-program-11-3/2026-11-22/
