SUMMARY:Community Yin Yoga
DESCRIPTION:Yin Yoga is a slow\, meditative style of yoga that invites stillness and deep release. Rather than flowing quickly from one pose to the next\, Yin encourages you to linger—holding postures for three to seven minutes at a time. This gentle yet profound approach allows the stretch to reach beyond the muscles\, into the body’s deeper connective tissues such as fascia\, joints\, and ligaments. \nUsing supportive props like bolsters\, blankets\, and blocks\, the body is encouraged to fully relax and let go. As tension melts away\, Yin Yoga cultivates greater flexibility\, mobility\, and inner spaciousness. Beyond the physical practice\, Yin invites mindfulness and quiet introspection. It slows the nervous system\, reduces stress\, and nurtures a sense of acceptance and presence—balancing the active\, fiery energies of daily life with calm\, restorative stillness. \nThese sessions are as much about inner reflection as they are about collective harmony\, a space where everyone is welcome to soften and simply be. \nParticipants must be eighteen years of age or older and will be required to sign a waiver before attending. The waiver can be printed out and filled out before arriving\, or we will have some on location. Please bring your own mat\, props\, and personal items. We recommend bringing a water bottle with a secure lid and a towel. This class is offered at no cost; donations are appreciated. \nFacilitated by Darin Milligan\nDarin is an avid rock climber\, boulderer\, mountain biker\, surfer and snowboarder who found stillness in the Yin Yoga practice as a counter balance to all of the Yang activities in his life. He has been practicing Yin for 17 years and teaching for several years. He is a certified Yin Yoga instructor through Yin Yoga Space Studio in Portland\, OR\, and a regularly attending member of the KCC Sangha.\n\nVIEW EVENT DETAILS: https://kcc.org/event/community-yin-yoga/2026-11-22/

SUMMARY:Children's Program
DESCRIPTION:The KCC Children’s Program is an opportunity to introduce children to Buddhist values within a supportive\, sincere dharma community using simple dharma activities\, storytelling\, open discussion\, songs\, art projects and activities\, including play\, to promote kindness and compassion. Our goal is to provide a fun\, meaningful experience for all. \nSunday Morning Children’s Program \nOn the second and fourth Sundays of each month\, from 9:00 to 11:00 am\, we offer the Sunday Morning Children’s Program. This program normally starts in September and runs through the second Sunday in June. In July and August we meet once a month on the fourth Sunday. We require that at least one parent or guardian be present at KCC when their child attends. \nThe age range we currently serve is 6 to 12; however\, we do allow slightly younger and older children on a case by case basis as appropriate. Please feel free to discuss this with the program coordinator\, Laurie Simpson\, if needed. Email contact here. \nWhile there is no fee for the program\, dana (offerings) are accepted and go towards helping us continue providing programs such as these. In order to support the program on Sundays we ask that parents agree to be available to assist the teacher if needed – this is a shared role and can be filled by parents or other adults who wish to participate in this way. During the regular school year please note that we request you consider committing to bringing your child both Sundays each month throughout this time frame\, but this is not required. \nAlso please be aware that\, to attend this program\, your child needs to be able to manage their speech and physical activity cooperatively in a small group to help maintain a peaceful children’s sangha. If this is a concern we ask that you attend with your child until they are comfortable with the group. Ultimately we want to be as inclusive as possible\, but must also work to create a safe and welcoming environment for all attending.\n\nVIEW EVENT DETAILS: https://kcc.org/event/childrens-program-9/2026-11-22/
