Membership at Kagyu Changchub Chuling
In the Mayahana and Vajrayana traditions, our dharma practice is intended for the benefit of all sentient beings. Accordingly, KCC’s programs and activities are open to all, without precondition.
Anyone feeling a connection to the dharma in general and KCC in particular may consider himself or herself to be a member of the sangha. There is no formal process to become a member, and we do not keep track of who is a member.
Members and non-members alike may choose to support KCC’s activities by:
--Attending meditation & teaching sessions, and committing to their own practice
--Volunteering
--Participating in organizational meetings and learning how KCC works
--Pledging Financial Support
Pledging Financial Support
Although the dharma is made available without regard to the ability to pay, it takes financial support to operate KCC. At the start of each year, a budget is prepared. We encourage you to consider making an annual pledge, in order to help meet that budget.
When you make a pledge, you allocate the amount you want to give to the General Fund (for operations) and to other funds for special purposes (see KCC Fund Descriptions). Pledges may be paid monthly, quarterly, or annually.
There is no minimum or maximum pledge amount, but a guideline might be $50/month, or a percentage of monthly income, or whatever makes sense to you in your circumstances.
Upon maintaining a pledge for 3 months, a person is eligible for discounted prices to KCC-sponsored retreats and events, because they are already helping to pay for some of the costs that are included in prices for these events. After 2 years of maintaining a pledge, a person is eligible for the Sangha Vote list, per KCC’s bylaws.
When you pay your pledge through direct debit from your checking account or credit card, your contribution can be counted on to arrive at a regularly scheduled time, which helps us control our finances.
