SUPPORT KAGYU CHANGCHUB CHULING

Inspired by our great teachers, Kalu Rinpoche and Bokar Rinpoche, KCC is building long-term retreat facilities at Ser Chö Ösel Ling near Goldendale, WA. The facilities will allow extended 1 and 3 year retreats and shorter retreats for groups and individuals.

Ser Chö Ösel Ling, the "Land of the Clear Light Golden Dharma," was purchased in 2001 thanks to a generous donation. KCC is currently focusing resources on developing the first phases of the Retreat Land Project before turning to our next dream: a new, larger urban center.

Ser Chö Ösel Ling is a retreat facility that will benefit all levels of practitioners—in short retreats of a day, to a month or more, to long retreats of up to 3 years. We hope that you will take advantage of these short retreat opportunities as soon as May 2008, when we will officially open the north wing portion of the long retreat center. Anyone who is a benefactor of this work is also a beneficiary.

The only way to preserve the authentic teachings of our tradition is to guide people in on-going meditation practice. This not only safeguards ancient knowledge, it ensures that people discover within themselves immeasurable kindness and compassion. In time, some will become beacons of compassion and wisdom for all beings. Your gift will help us bring this to fruition.

This year your donation will go directly towards putting dishes on the table!

Our current fundraising goal of $40,000 will furnish the entire kitchen and north wing with items ranging from eating utensils to dining tables and bunk beds. The north wing will comfortably sleep up to 20 people for short retreats.

The first retreats at the new buildings are scheduled for 2008. When group retreats are not in session, cabins will be available for personal retreats. Construction on the south wing will continue in order to complete the retreat cloister as soon as possible, allowing long retreats to begin.

Gratefully, we can recall the many financial gifts and hours of volunteer work represented in this project. To date we have raised $1.78 million from over 400 donors. In 2008 we enter the final year of Janet McAlpin’s challenge gift. Every dollar that you give will be generously matched.

We have come a long way since we began construction in 2002. Reaching this milestone of opening the north wing marks, “a project in the making becomes a project in use!” This joyous event indeed strengthens our confidence that we can reach our goal of completing retreat facilities that benefit a wide range of students.

Make a donation and/or volunteer services or materials. Joyfully, we dedicate the merit to benefit all beings.
